BlackPast
BlackPast.org is the largest web-based resource for African-American history in the world. Since 2007 BlackPast.org has consistently delivered high-quality content covering an undercovered segment of the American population. Believing that African-American history is American history and that it’s accurate documentation and publication helps weave us all together as Americans, BlackPast came to myself and my partner Jenny Lam at Jackson Fish for help with a complete identity strategy, rebranding, and redesign of their flagship website (which is currently under development). Their existing site was dated, limited, and didn’t support modern functionality such as responsive web design. Jenny and I and the team at Jackson Fish Market redesigned everything from the ground up. My contributions included organizational strategy, brand strategy, user experience/interaction design and wireframing, and art direction. I also have served on the board of BlackPast since 2015.
