I taught myself to play the piano at the age of eleven. I wasn’t very good, but I was good enough to warrant my parents buying a piano (a 1920’s Playotone Player Piano with an impossibly bright tone which I still play today) and get me lessons. I was a bad student, ignoring my assigned work, and presenting new compositions to my teacher each week. By high school I started writing music and playing in a band in earnest. I go through periodic waves of music composition and recording. Again in college. And then again in various spurts over the last couple of decades. Often people have said my music sounds like it belongs in a musical. I used to be discouraged by that description. Now I embrace it. It’s what it is. (There are also some covers in there.) I’ve included a sampling here. Head over to SoundCloud for the full catalog.
